Overview
The Senior Logistics specialist is a professional with proven experience and skills in the following areas by priority order: freight data analytics applied to cost control; trade compliance (US and international import/export process and regulations); transportation (negotiation and preparation of international shipments).
Responsibilities
Freight Data Analysis and Cost Control
Trade Compliance
- Ensure compliance with U.S. and international import/export laws and regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR, Customs, OFAC).
- Manage import/export documentation, classifications (HTS, ECCN), licensing, and recordkeeping in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Interface with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies.
- Maintain internal trade compliance procedures, SOPs, and audits.
- Partner with procurement, logistics, legal, and operations teams to support global trade compliance initiatives.
- Perform risk assessments, implement corrective actions, and ensure best practices in compliance.
- Monitor regulatory changes and advise stakeholders accordingly.
- Maintain ACE, AES, and other relevant trade platforms.
Transportation
- Ensure timely, cost-effective, and safe transportation of materials.
- Support the spot transportation bidding for large parts or complex shipments.
- Develop logistics procedures for shipments to all Atlas operational locations.
- Support the negotiation of transportation contracts with the Procurement Areaa.
- Ensure traceability of shipments and recovery of cost of lost merchandise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in import/export compliance or global trade, data analysis, and international shipment transportation.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and export licensing.
- Experience with EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and other relevant U.S. and international regulations.
- Advanced level in Excel with demonstrated experience in managing large data files, proficient utilization of data analytics functions and resources.
- Negotiation of transportation prices in spot bidding process
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with aircraft products
- Experience using trade provisions such as Civil Aircraft exemption, US Goods Return, Repair Return, USMCA, duty drawback, carnets
- Experience with other data analysis software and tools, such as Tableau, Smart Sheets, VB code writing.
- Familiarity with automated export/import systems (CBP ACE, freight carrier portals, etc) and ERP platforms (TRAX, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Accounting and Financial management applied to freight costs
