The Cybersecurity Architect will lead the design, development, and integration of secure IT network and cloud solutions across the enterprise. This role is responsible for defining security architecture, establishing technical standards, and ensuring compliance with federal and industry frameworks (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP). The Architect will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and stakeholders, bridging technical expertise with strategic risk management to protect organizational assets, data, and mission-critical systems. Responsibilities:
- Design and Implementation: Architect, test, and deploy enterprise-wide security systems, including wireless networks, firewalls, IDS/IPS, LAN/WAN, SIEMs, and cloud integration strategies.
- Governance and Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments aligned to NIST standards; recommend and implement mitigations to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of Security Engineers, providing technical direction, training, and career development to build organizational cyber resilience.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with executives, program managers, and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into secure technical solutions, and communicate risks and trade-offs effectively.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging threats, technologies, and frameworks to proactively strengthen security posture and improve architecture maturity.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field
- A CISSP certification
- 10 years of experience designing, building, testing, and implementing security systems within an organization IT Network.
- 7 years of experience with Wireless Networks, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, LAN/WAN, SIEM's and Cloud integration strategies.
- 5 years of experience managing a team of Security Engineers.
- 7 years of experience in applying risk management techniques to develop and complete risk assessments based on NIST standards to ensure system design and implementation sufficiently addresses or mitigates IA risk.
Preferred Qualifications
- CISSP-ISSAP certification
- Excellent teaching, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with a broad cross-section of personnel to include senior management to explain and enforce security measures to protect agency assets.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture, SOAR platforms. AI/ML in cybersecurity, and big data analytics for threat detection
