Job Title: Technical Writer

Location: Cockeysville, MD

Possible Contract to Hire

Pay Rate: Up to $55/hr depending on expereince

Must be able to work onsite

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer with a strong background in IT and cybersecurity compliance to support documentation efforts aligned with CMMC, NIST 800-171, and FedRAMP frameworks. This role involves creating clear, actionable documentation for pursuing CMMC Level 2 certification and maintaining compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, policies, procedures, and compliance artifacts.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity consultants and client teams to gather and translate technical requirements.
  • Support gap assessments and readiness planning for CMMC and related frameworks.
  • Conduct interviews and working sessions with client personnel to understand current practices.
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with DoD and NIST standards for safeguarding CUI.


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience writing GRC documentation.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks: CMMC, NIST 800-171, FedRAMP, DFARS, FAR, CUI.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications:

CMMC RP or CCP certification.

Experience in federal IT environments.

Familiarity with hybrid IT infrastructures.
