The Procurement Manager is responsible for the timely and efficient procurement of goods and services at the most economical costs consistent with required quality, to assure continuous adherence to all production schedules and meet customer requirements for on-time delivery of our products. Manage our vendor base to provide vendor performance that meets our company's defined goals and objectives
Essential Duties: As Procurement Manager, you will:
Lead, guide, and direct the purchasing team to secure raw materials, services, and components that meet performance and cost requirements. Develop and maintain a strategic supply base engaged in meeting performance objectives and partnering to share technology, materials, and cost-saving opportunities. Direct the negotiation of strategic multi-year and/or annual contracts for services and materials. Analyze weekly MERP requirements for accuracy. Develop new sources and cultivate strong supplier relationships to ensure maximum service at competitive price levels consistent with quality standards. Execute cost reduction strategies through evaluation of alternate materials, suppliers, and enhanced internal practices. Provide guidance to Purchasing Agents in selecting vendors, negotiating prices, and assuring quality. Work closely with the Engineering and Quality departments. Oversee the Raw Material Crib and receiving area. Establish metrics to measure supplier performance (quality, service, cost reduction) and team performance. Conduct supplier reviews and develop strategic partnerships with top-tier suppliers, setting goals for product innovation, service, and cost reduction. Analyze and coordinate storage space requirements for raw materials and finished products, adjusting as needed based on business conditions. Complete and report inventory cycle counts, maintain high accuracy by location and book value, and resolve root causes for discrepancies. Monitor progress toward raw material inventory targets and ensure identification and destruction of obsolete materials. Promote organization through 5S and 80/20 principles and maintain safe practices in all areas. Support cross-training and professional growth of all team members. Perform additional duties as required to meet changing business demands.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
B.S./B.A. degree required; Master's degree preferred. APICS certification required. 8-10 years of experience in Purchasing/Logistics within a manufacturing environment (Wire and Cable experience a plus). Strong background in Decision Support Systems, Excel, Word, and MRP systems. Ability to balance competing demands effectively. Strong listening and analytical skills. Ability to negotiate, compromise, and adapt to constantly changing objectives.
