Job Overview:

TriContinent, a subsidiary of Ingersoll-Rand, Inc., is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Materials Buyer/Planner to join our operations team. TriContinent is a leader in precision micro dispensing syringe pumps, Air Displacement pump, micro-pipets and other fluidic control components for the life sciences, biopharma, analytical, environmental and other high tech markets. The person hired for this role will plan, schedule, and order material for assigned manufacturing cells and ensure customer delivery dates and expectations are met or exceeded. This role will ensure the right materials at the right time and price for production by analyzing demand, managing inventory, purchasing raw materials, and coordinating with suppliers and internal teams. The right candidate will be given the opportunity to contribute to mission-critical fluidic components that support life sciences and high tech innovation and make life better.

Responsibilities:


  • Customer Backlogs: Reviews customer backlogs based on assigned manufacturing cells in order to gain a broad view of upcoming requirements. Coordinates with Customer Service and Sales Reps regarding customer backlogs.

  • Material Purchases: Use MRP function to order materials needed to meet customer demands on time. Place PO's with suppliers as MRP drives the requirements. If necessary, work with the supplier to expedite material.

  • Production Scheduling: Use customer backlog and MPS function to schedule orders per manufacturing cell based upon promised delivery dates. Create work orders for the appropriate quantity of units to satisfy the customer's order.

  • Analysis & Continuous Improvement: Seek to maximize efficiency by scheduling like jobs together whenever possible. Use given tools to ensure adequate safety stock is assigned to high demand parts in order to meet potential spikes in customer demand or to mitigate supplier late deliveries. Review any provided customer forecasts or anticipated demand to ensure appropriate inventory is carried.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned or required.



Requirements:


  • 3+ years experience in scheduling, inventory control or production in a manufacturing environment required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain/Logistics, Operations or Business Administration required.

  • Must possess intermediate MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.



Preferences:


  • Equivalent work experience in purchasing, logistics, or supply chain is also considered.

  • Ability to interface with staff at many levels in corresponding internal departments, plus vendors and customers.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills that enable fast and effective resolution of customer issues.

  • Strong ability for problem solving, critical thinking, and process orientation.

  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
