SUMMARY TheGeneral Ledger Shared Services Accountant Iplays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records by performing daily, monthly, and annual accounting tasks. This includes managing the general ledger, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and supporting audits and financial reporting. Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review, analyze and prepare monthly journal entries for month end close, including expense accruals, amortizations, cost allocations, and any others that may be required.
  • Prepare and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations for various legal entities and provide explanation of any unusual balances.
  • Assist with internal & external audits by preparing and explaining the fluctuations for significant accounts between periods. This also includes the preparation of other audit schedules for designated balances sheet accounts, as requested by the external auditors.
  • Support theCanadian Controller and the US SSC Controller, in the review of the month end income statements of domestic operational units to verify accuracy and completeness of the accounting transactions.
  • Support the North American Accounts Payable group with processing invoices, Vendor maintenance forms and communicating with vendors and operations regarding invoices and purchase orders.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Operations and G&A departments on the submission of the accounting data needed to complete the month end journal entries for domestic and international locations.
  • Provide operational units with explanations on monthly expense variances.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree inAccountingfrom an accredited university required.
  • Three years' minimum experience in professional accounting role required.
  • Industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with financial reporting and reconciliations in a corporate environment.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to compose routine correspondence with attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
