We are seeking a dedicated Transportation Safety Services Consultant to deliver expert safety consulting and technical support to our clients. In this role, you will assess and identify exposures with significant loss potential, investigate the cause and effect of major losses, and develop effective hazard and safety management programs. You will work closely with the underwriting department by providing critical risk evaluation and assessment insights. This position is responsible for managing a portfolio of assigned accounts within a designated geographical territory.

the pay range for a Safety Services Consultant I is
-$73,392-$100,914 annually in the state of Washington
-$63,384-$87,153 annually in the state of Idaho

the pay range for a Safety Services Consultant II is
-$88,880-$122,210 annually in the state of Washington
-$76,760-$105,545 annually in the state of Idaho

the pay range for a Safety Services Consultant Sr is
-$107,624-$147,983 annually in the state of Washington
-$92,948-$127,804 annually in the state of Idaho

The following are some of the responsibilities of the Transportation Safety Consultant that would be located in the Pacific Northwest area with travel responsibilities mainly in WA, OR, CA, ID, UT.

  • Conduct onsite safety consultations to assigned clients while also evaluating underwriting acceptability

  • Recommend safety enhancements and provide technical safety resources to customers

  • Complete detailed reports to agents and underwriting regarding the account profile, risk improvement opportunities, and overall opinion of risk

  • Develop, coordinate and conduct safety seminars and training programs for customers to promote driver safety awareness and reduce claims

  • Maintain and demonstrate expertise in areas such as FMCSA compliance, fleet safety, driver management, safety culture development, general liability, and cargo securement/protection

Additionally, you will:

  • Responsible for meeting objectives for production and risk improvement. May be assigned special projects as directed by the Safety Services manager.

  • Adheres to and operates within safety policies and practices. Attends requisite safety training.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned from time to time.

What it Takes

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with emphasis in the trucking industry

  • Knowledge of FMCSA Regulations

  • 0-5 plus years of advanced knowledge in a safety department in the trucking industry

  • Effective oral and written communication and human relation skills

  • Certified Director of Safety (CDS) through NATMI or willing to pursue designation

  • High level of independence and self-motivation to work from home and manage assigned territory

  • An acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to perform extensive travel over a large territory is required (50% travel)
