White Pine Innovations is seeking a Network Engineer to support the Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU) at Wright-Patterson AFB (Dayton), OH. The Network Engineer will provide critical support for the Defense Security Assistance Management System (DSAMS) while also contributing to the design, implementation, and maintenance of DSCU's LAN.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Network & IT Operations:



  • Support and maintain Hyper-V virtualized infrastructure, including servers, storage, and networking components.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD 8140 requirements by maintaining required network access credentials and certifications.
  • Manage, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco Catalyst 8300/9300 series routers and switches to ensure reliable network operations.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain Cisco Secure Firewall 1200 series appliances to support enterprise security needs.
  • Administer and support Cisco Web Security Appliance (WSA) S196 for web filtering and content security.
  • Operate and maintain Cisco DNA Center (Catalyst Center) and ThousandEyes for network automation, visibility, and performance monitoring.
  • Maintain overall network security, routing policies, and performance optimization.
  • Provide hands-on IT and networking support to end-users, including account/access management and general troubleshooting.
  • Assist with mobile device management and SIPR equipment administration as part of auxiliary IT support duties.
  • Configure, install, and maintain network hardware and software while ensuring accurate documentation of installations and updates.
  • Manage and monitor LAN operations to support stability, security, and performance; respond to support requests in a timely manner.
  • Support the planning and design of LAN expansions, providing recommendations based on industry's best practices and DSCU requirements.


DSAMS / Training Support:



  • Provide administrative and technical support for DSAMS, including user assistance, curriculum development, training delivery, and troubleshooting through the DSAMS Service Desk.
  • Collaborate with instructors to ensure DSAMS content is accurate and up to date across training courses; conduct user acceptance testing.
  • Monitor DSAMS system performance, identify anomalies, and recommend improvements to enhance usability.


Basic Qualifications:



  • Minimum 5 years of experience in network engineering or IT systems administration; U.S. Citizen with active Secret Clearance; DoD 8140 compliance with valid Network Admin Token (or equivalent).
  • Expertise in LAN management, including configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization; hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst routers/switches and Cisco Secure Firewall (or equivalent NGFW).
  • Proficiency with Cisco technologies (DNA Center, Plug-n-Play, SD-WAN, WSA) and CIENA Optical Transport Network equipment.
  • Strong background supporting Hyper-V environments (VMs, storage, networking) and providing end-user IT support (account/access management, troubleshooting).
  • Skilled in network monitoring tools such as ThousandEyes, SNMP, NetFlow; advanced troubleshooting using CLI, log analysis, and Cisco TAC procedures.


Required Certifications:



  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
  • Security+ (CompTIA) or equivalent required to obtain and maintain a Network Admin Token under DoD 8140


Preferred Certifications:



  • CCNP Enterprise (ENCOR)
  • CCNP Enterprise (ENARSI)
  • CCNP Security (SCOR)
  • Cisco CyberOps Associate
