Position Description:
Summary
Under general direction carry out experimental design for sponsored research projects, including compilation and analysis of data generated.
Primary Responsibilities
- Carry out routine and complex experiments in both a laboratory and transgenic core setting including embryo micromanipulation, survival surgery, cryopreservation, and reconstitution.
- Perform routine husbandry of rodent animal colonies.
- Monitor inventory and order lab supplies; carry out assigned duties for ordering, maintaining supply of inventory.
- Prepare media and maintain cells by various culturing in techniques.
- Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed.
- Oversee daily core lab operation in the absence of the supervisor or Principal Investigator.
- Assist in development and implementation of research protocols.
- Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries of experimental results.
- Help evaluate, interpret, and assess experimental data and quality control of assays.
- Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment used in research.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
- Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.
- Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.
- Experience with micromanipulation of rodent embryos, cryopreservation and reconstitution techniques strongly preferred
Preferred Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 some weekends

Qualifications
Appropriate experience may be substituted on equivalent basis.
Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Minimum Required Experience: 1 year
Preferred Education: B.S. or B.A. in science related field
Preferred Experience: 2 years of transgenic core experience, animal handling, familiarity with IACUC regulations
