Job Summary

Acts as an agent of Rapid City Hospital in the facilitation of the procurement and maintenance process including: purchasing, contracting, vendor selection, specification and/or market research, inventory management and analysis, contract compliance, and managing the disposition of supplies and equipment. Equipment shall be adequately maintained. Performs Tech-Check-Tech duties as outlined in the Tech-Check-Tech Program.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Assists pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications.
  • Creates and sends an order to the wholesaler and receives and restocks such order. Demonstrates the ability to prepare medications for the long term care facility.
  • Labels and packages medications appropriately. Prepares medications in a timely manner to expedite delivery to the patient.
  • Monitors medication inventory to assure appropriate expiration dating of medications.
  • Operates automated technology (Pyxis, carousel, compounders, etc.) in accordance to department standards and expectations.
  • Performs aseptic compounding of parenteral admixtures and other sterile dosage forms with the appropriate aseptic technique.
  • Understands requirements of order shift which includes receiving, processing, storage requirements and entry on medications into the carousel.
  • Works in the pharmacy on a regular basis to maintain competency with pharmacy processes and workflow.
  • Passes and maintains Tech-Check-Tech exam and validation tests.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Required:
Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies
Certification - Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) -Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - National Healthcare Association (NHA)

Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years of Pharmaceutical Experience

Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
