The Role
As a Technician, you will be primarily responsible to perform personnel and operational management tasks associated with readying IT equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, etc.) for shipping and final installation.
Responsibilities include:
- Personnel Management
- Personnel time review and approval
- Project coordination and management
- First level technical resource for SIS technicians
- Creation and review of standards of procedure (SOP)
- QA and authorize technician configured equipment for transfer to warehousing and shipping
- Assembles, configures and tests, telecommunications equipment, including but not limited to, routers, switches, cellular modems, wireless devices, IP phones, etc.
- Performs testing and diagnostic procedures on equipment according to published equipment standards and work-instructions.
- Supports operations and implementation on failed equipment through troubleshooting and fault isolation techniques.
- Supports the activation and testing of cellular service for wireless LTE devices
- Loading of provided configurations, routine testing of telecommunications and data equipment, troubleshooting and RMA of failed devices
- System deployment: imaging OS installation and updates, device activation/licensing, joining machines to domain, updating group policy, installing and configuring applications, setting TCP/IP networking parameters, installing printers, etc.
- Mobile devices: configuring Apple, Windows, Linux and Android-based mobile devices, joining devices to WLAN, connecting devices to management servers, verifying all required applications are installed, configuring application settings, etc.
- Peripheral devices: configuring communication settings on printers, UPS', handheld scanners, IP cameras, IP phones, etc.
- All other assigned duties and tasks
Required Skills
- Previous experience with Windows Server platforms preferred, but not required
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking a must
- Working knowledge of wireless networking
- Detail-oriented - all work performed must be logged and all time must be accurately tracked
- Ability to understand and follow process documentation
- Ability to work in a team-based, fast-paced environment
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing business requirements
Professional Experience
- High School Diploma/GED or Bachelor's degree and/or military experience.
- 2+ years with the configuration and troubleshooting of Windows based devices
- 2+ years of experience with hardware testing, troubleshooting, and repair of computer hardware
- Must be CompTIA A+ certified and/or have equivalent experience and knowledge
- Must be CompTIA Network+ certified and/or have equivalent experience and knowledge
- Other industry standard certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, Red Hat) are desired, but not required
