Full-time, 40 hours/week Day shift primarily 8:00am to 4:30pm, evenings and weekends as needed Onsite, travel required Summary: The Regional Advocacy, Community Outreach & Education Coordinator plans, implements, and evaluates outreach events and community-based education and establishes relationships in their assigned territory working in alignment with the Outreach Events Committee and with the Community Outreach & Education Manager. Responsibilities: 1. Assists with planning, implementation and evaluation of culturally appropriate outreach events and community health education strategies, interventions, programs and speakers. 2. Works within the hospital system to ensure that hospital participation in community outreach events is coordinated through the Outreach Events Committee and follows established guidelines. 3. Assists with all aspects of the Outreach Events Committee including processing outreach event requests, preparing for and leading committee meetings, identifying hospital staff to participate in the events and provide support with event preparation, and ensures that event follow-up surveys are completed. 4. Identifies, plans, develops and implements or participates in various community outreach events/activities in their assigned territory. 5. Work with Manager to develop a partnership engagement plan for their assigned territory. 6. Delivers health education to target populations 0 to 18 years and families to address identified health needs including but not limited to disease prevention, screenings, healthy behaviors and wellness. 7. Coordinates and implements special projects as assigned including but not limited to Bridges Out of Poverty, Safe Sitter, Home Alone, Adopt-a-School, food insecurity and department projects. 8. Represent the hospital on various internal committees as well as community-based coalitions, community event planning committees, and community health improvement groups. 9. Maintains inventory of program supplies. 10. Work collaboratively with Manager, Director, Foundation and Grants Administration to solicit and monitor funds to support programs and activities and complete grant reports. 11. Serves as a liaison between target populations, social service agencies and medical providers at Akron Children's. 12. Maintains outreach events and education databases and calendars and assists with program registration. 13. Assists with the administration of the centralized calendar of programs and events. 14. Organizes, prioritizes, and completes multiple tasks in an accurate and timely manner. 15. Other duties as required. Other information: Technical Expertise
- Experience in public health and community health education is preferred.
- Travel and valid Ohio driver's license is required.
- May be required to drive a hospital vehicle.
- Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.] or similar software is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, or related field is required;
- Certification: None.
- Years of relevant experience: 3 to 5 years is preferred.
- Years of experience supervising: None.
Possesses a valid Statedriver's license and ability to obtain and maintain insurability as determined by the ACH insurance carrier's requirements. An annual physical is required to be completed with the Akron Children's Hospital Employee Health Department.
