We are looking for our next great team member to join us on our Food and Beverage team to fill the position of Sous Chef.

The Sous Chef - plays a critical role in the culinary leadership team of our boutique luxury hotel in Houston. This role supports the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, with a specialized focus on creating and executing authentic, high-quality food. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in traditional Chinese cooking techniques, modern plating, and luxury food presentation standards. This is a hands-on position requiring both culinary creativity and team leadership skills in a high-performance, guest-centric environment

Here is what you do each day:


  • Assist the Executive Chef in planning, organizing, and supervising all kitchen operations.



  • Oversee food preparation, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to recipes and presentation standards.



  • Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering teamwork, skill development, and professional growth.



  • Coordinate with culinary, banquet, and restaurant teams to execute menus for all outlets, in-room dining, and special events.



  • Monitor inventory, order supplies, and manage food cost and waste control.



  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.



  • Assist in menu planning, development of seasonal dishes, and introduction of innovative culinary techniques.



  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.



  • Handle guest inquiries or special requests in collaboration with the service team.



  • Stand in for the Executive Chef as needed, making critical decisions in their absence.




Does this sound like you?


  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a luxury hotel, resort, or fine dining environment.



  • Strong culinary skills, including knowledge of modern cooking techniques, plating, and menu development.



  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.



  • Knowledge of inventory management, cost control, and food safety regulations.



  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.



  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.



  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.



  • Manual dexterity for precise food preparation and plating.



  • Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.
