Quality Safety Specialist


The Quality Safety Specialist supports the Program Manager and is responsible for providing direction and oversight for all major quality and safety operations and functions. The Quality Safety Specialist oversees activities in support of the organizational mission, ensures the fulfillment of obligations related to contracts, and assures compliance with relevant state, federal, local and foundation regulations. The Quality Safety Specialist will have the proven quality / safety experience and creative problem solving and management skills needed to provide strategic direction for a fast-paced, high-growth, mission-driven organization.



Specific Responsibilities of the Job:



The Quality specialist is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) requirements. The primary roles and responsibilities of a Quality Specialist are:




  • Create and distribute controlled, documents, and records.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 quality Management System.
  • Serve as a liaison to our customers and ensure consistent practices and deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Implement corporate-sponsored best practices for quality assurance processes.
  • Develop and maintain reporting measures to ensure continuous improvement and provide needed information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare, maintain, enforce, the quality program to drive performance using ISO 9001:2015 standards across the project.
  • Maintain, and analyze program(s) metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with current contract and ISO 9001:2015 standards (Records, Meetings, Process reviews)
  • Develop ISO 9001-2015 internal audit schedule for the area project
  • Train new and existing employees, ISO 9001-2015 training program
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and provide guidance on related disciplines.
  • Seek, share and assist in institutionalizing best practices.
  • Develop and implement program-specific process improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct audits, inspections to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Participate in the identification and implementation of all continuous process improvement activities.
  • Maintain root cause analysis and corrective action resolution Procedures are fully implemented


  • Develop, implement, and sustain a behavioral safety-based program.
  • Implement corporate-sponsored best practices for safety processes.
  • Monitor OSHA 300 reporting requirements for programs
  • Develop and maintain reporting measures to ensure continuous safety and provide needed information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update the safety plans to drive performance using OSHA standards across the project.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and provide guidance on related disciplines.
  • Develop and implement program-specific process safety initiatives.
  • Conduct audits, inspections to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:




  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and diverse workplace.
  • Excels at operating in a fast pace, community environment.
  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view.
  • Understanding of OSHA and industrial safety requirements.
  • Certified Internal Auditor
  • High comfort level working in a diverse environment.
  • Working knowledge of analytical methodology, statistical process control and continual process improvement.
  • Familiarity with the development and operation of management reporting systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement approaches and change management.
  • Excellent communication, effective leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.



Education or Equivalent:



  • 2-year degree, or 2-years related experience in quality / safety may be substituted for education.


Other Requirements:




  • Must have and maintain a valid U.S. Driver's License
  • Must have and maintain secret clearance
  • Ability and willingness to travel 20% of time or as needed for current and future business.
