Job Summary |
There are two part-time positions available. The A.C. Buehler Library is seeking two energetic individuals to work as Reference Librarians for the following schedules during the academic year:
- 10 hours per week: Wednesdays from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Sundays from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
- 17 hours per week: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and Saturdays from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Necessary are knowledge of both electronic and traditional reference sources, the ability to troubleshoot computer problems, ability to supervise support staff and student workers, experience teaching information literacy classes, providing tours to interested groups, and assistance with small projects when assigned. |
Salary Range |
$18.00-$22.00. This is the expected hourly range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget. |
Essential Functions |
- Oversees the library's operations which include reference, circulation, reserves and instructional services.
- Supervises support staff and student assistants.
- Answers user questions.
- Opens and/or closes the library.

Minimum Qualifications |
- A Master's degree in Library Science or current enrollment with significant progress toward degree completion.
- Previous library experience.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot computer issues.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations in a professional manner.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements |
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object. |
Work Hours |
Two schedules are available, and applicants are asked to indicate if they have a preference when completing their online application:
