Job Summary:

Lafayette Group is seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst to support federal cybersecurity programs. The Business Analyst is responsible for gathering, developing, analyzing, and validating technical requirements for technology projects and ensuring that requirements align with the client's operational priorities and resource availability. This role bridges business needs and technical solutions, ensuring that projects align with organizational strategy, architectural standards, existing frameworks, and stakeholder expectations. This role requires strong analytical skills paired with experience in business operations for IT or cybersecurity.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Work closely with the Project Manager and other analysts to help clients solve nationally significant cybersecurity challenges.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, project managers, and technical experts to elicit, capture, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
  • Support in translating stakeholder needs into structured requirements that can be documented, validated, and traced throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create process maps, workflow diagrams, user stories, and use cases to illustrate requirements clearly.
  • Assist in aligning requirements with the organization's existing frameworks, reference models, and technology standards.
  • Support solution evaluation and selection by ensuring requirements are measurable and testable.
  • Help maintain the requirements repository and support impact analysis of proposed changes.
  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring requirements are understood, validated, and appropriately addressed in solution design.
  • Assist with client engagement and support, including preparing for and leading meetings, facilitating planning and data gathering sessions, and developing recommendations for plans, documents, and reports to support client needs.
  • Support the development of written work products including strategic plans, assessments and reports, presentations, talking points, fact sheets, and white papers.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-7 years of professional experience in information technology, cybersecurity, or business operations within federal, state, or large enterprise environments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; diplomatic and an excellent listener
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to remain open-minded, flexible and curious in a problem-solving approach
  • Ability to think conceptually and strategically and learn quickly
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines, adhere to project plans, and work on several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of staff, including senior leadership, both internal and on the client site
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level briefings, reports, decision memos, and policy documents for senior leadership.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Eligibility to obtain a U.S. government public trust and/or security clearance.



Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior consulting or program support experience with DHS, CISA, or other federal cybersecurity organizations.
  • Experience in business operations and process improvement.
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and other similar project management tools


Location: Arlington, VA

Federal Contracts: This position involves working on federal contracts that require all workers on the contract to be U.S. Citizens. Additionally, some contracts may require the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Salary Range: $65,000-$85,000

Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week)

Expected Start Date: October 1, 2025


Contingent Hire: This position will be hired contingent upon winning the Federal contract work.
