ESi's Mechanics Practice evaluates the performance of products and systems against engineering standards, supporting investigations, litigation, and advisory work. Using advanced analytical and computational tools, the team delivers insights that enhance safety, reliability, and system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists with field investigations and site inspections under the supervision of experienced consultants.
  • Performs engineering research, data collection, and analysis to support ongoing projects.
  • Assists in preparation of technical reports and documents.
  • Participates in laboratory testing and analysis activities.
  • Supports consultants in organizing and analyzing evidence and technical data.
  • Attends client meetings and internal technical reviews as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of the multidisciplinary consulting team.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications / Licenses Required

  • Enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
  • Strong academic record with coursework in engineering mechanics, materials, thermodynamics, or related subjects.

Experience Required

  • No prior professional experience required; laboratory, research, or internship experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated interest in forensic engineering, failure analysis, or litigation support.

Other Technical & Non-Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with engineering analysis or CAD software a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and take initiative on assigned tasks.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be available to travel for field work.

Physical Demands:

This role requires frequently sitting or standing for extended periods of time and occasionally lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds, with infrequent lifting up to 75 pounds. The work regularly requires bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and maintaining balance. This position frequently requires handling and operating specialized tools and equipment and working in a variety of physical positions, including occasionally accessing tight or confined spaces. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Work Environment:

Work is performed in both office and field environments, including active construction sites, industrial settings, and damaged or compromised structures.
