Title: SDS Author
Location: Houston, TX (Katy area)

Salary: $75,800 - $90,500
Schedule: Hybrid schedule; 2 days remote per week

Focus: The Safety Data Sheet "SDS" Author is responsible for summarizing relevant hazard information of products and for making interpretation of the information as it pertains to classification of hazardous substances according to various regulatory classification schemes globally. In this role you will report to the Hazard Communication Manager, and will collaborate with business Product Stewards, the area Product Regulatory Expert, and the department's Toxicologist to facilitate the introduction of new products into markets and to maintain the Hazard Communication information up-to-date with new product information and with new requirements.

SDS Author Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop knowledge of global hazard communication requirements including continually upgrading personal knowledge of hazard communication regulatory requirements and processes and apply the knowledge to the daily work.
  • Collect, maintain and update compositional information into the SAP EH&S system.
  • Coordinate the input relevant for completion of an SDS from various subject matter experts for a timely completion of the SDS.
  • Participate in projects to maintain compliance with global hazard communication regulations and related regulatory requirements.
  • Identify relevant hazard classification for existing products, intermediates and research samples using information on substances or products and classification rules to bridge remaining gaps.

SDS Author Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree* in Biological Sciences, Toxicology, Environmental Science or HSE related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with SDS authoring, Product Stewardship, Regulatory Affairs and/or chemical regulatory fields.
  • Working knowledge of GHS preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Dangerous Goods preferred.
  • Experience in SAP EHS environment preferred.
