Job Description

The UMKC School of Pharmacy Senior Office Support Assistant position requires an individual who enjoys working with students and faculty from a variety of backgrounds.

This position interacts with prospective and current pharmacy students and pharmacy faculty, in person, and on a daily basis providing support and being a resource for their curricular and co-curricular needs. In addition, the Pharmacy Student Affairs Office develops programmatic events (e.g., admissions interviews, orientation, dedication ceremony, achievement ceremonies, commencement, etc.) for students whereby the Office Support Assistant is key in working with the director and recruiting staff to prepare for successful launch of these events and activities. Qualified individuals must possess excellent judgement, attention to detail, organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a daily point of contact for prospective and current pharmacy students.
  • Provide in-person support for students' curricular and co-curricular needs.
  • Act as a resource for pharmacy faculty regarding student affairs-related matters.
  • Assist in planning and executing programmatic events such as:
    • Admissions interviews
    • Orientation
    • Dedication ceremonies
    • Achievement ceremonies
    • Commencement
  • Collaborate with the director and recruiting staff to ensure smooth event preparation and execution.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation related to student affairs.
  • Coordinate schedules, room bookings, and materials for events and meetings.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide accurate information to students and faculty.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Work closely with the Pharmacy Student Affairs Office team to support departmental goals.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel is preferred. Ability to use Access is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with campus data systems (e.g., Peoplesoft, Slate, Canvas) is preferred. Training will be provided.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Up to $22.00 per hour, commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.

This position is also eligible for a $1,000 signing bonus subject to HR-104 Hiring and Retention Incentives.
