Job Description

Overview of the Position:


This leadership role is responsible for leading the quality organization for Wencor's Distribution/PMA businesses, with particular focus and commitment to the organization's core values and ensuring we meet our mission of ensuring each flight is safe and cost-effective daily.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Ensure organization's adherence to a Quality Management System (QMS) for multiple facilities, acting as a Management Representative for QMS; ensure that the QMS conforms to the requirements of the international standard.
  • Participate in internal and external (regulatory and certification) quality audits.
  • Design, implement and document procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection including oversight of calibration and testing programs; establish and implement metrics/statistics for monitoring the quality team's effectiveness and to enable team members to make sound product quality decisions using predictive trend data.
  • Serve as primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting, counter-measures, and continuous improvement. Perform root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Initiate and implement quality continuous improvement activities as appropriate (e.g. Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the company's product lines through the quality system in support of our customers' and business needs.
  • Supports concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance and the customer.
  • Lead and oversee supplier quality engineering team to establish and monitor vendor performance to Wencor terms and conditions.
  • Manage the employees in the Quality Department, including interviewing and hiring, performance management, and training of employees.
  • All other reasonable duties, as assigned.



Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Effective communicator at all levels of the organization
  • Well-developed analytical skills with ability to make fact-based recommendations
  • Works collaboratively with others to solve problems and drive results
  • Experience in the manufacture of precision aircraft parts
  • Experience/Certification in auditing based from the ISO standard
  • Experience with continuous improvement/lean methodology (Kaizen, Six Sigma, etc)
  • Experience in reading complex mechanical drawings and in the practical application of geometric dimensions and tolerance
  • Experience in the development of performance metrics by use of various computer skills and software applications including Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, or related programs.

Requirements

Education / Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering or related degree with a minimum of 15+ years of related Aerospace experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Master's degree preferred.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.



Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
