We're currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Minneapolis-based finance team. This role plays a key part in supporting multiple locations, enhancing processes, and contributing to the financial health of our organization.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Senior Accountant is an integral part of a collaborative finance team that supports multiple locations and plays a vital role in ensuring financial accuracy and efficiency across the organization. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with all functions across the organization, contribute to process improvements, and gain exposure to diverse accounting functions.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  2. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  3. Perform and review account reconciliations accruals and journal entries.
  4. Manage sales tax filings and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  5. Coordinate with external auditors and support the preparation of audit and tax documentation.
  6. Clearly communicate the organization's financial position to the Accounting Manager/Controller.
  7. Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process and cost improvement.
  8. Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  9. Develop and maintain work process documents for key accounting functions.
  10. Support continuous improvement efforts within the accounting function and broader organization.
  11. Work independently and collaboratively to resolve issues and meet accounting goals.
  12. Provide responsive and professional support to internal departments and external partners.
  13. Perform other duties as needed to support evolving business and departmental priorities.

REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: Partners with sales, project, and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and resolve transactional exceptions.
  • External: Communicates with vendors and external partners to resolve banking, sales tax, licensing, and account statement issues.

Requirements

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory standards
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUPS, SUMIFS)
  • Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems (e.g., Great Plains, NetSuite, Microsoft Business Dynamics, or similar)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong customer service orientation

DESIRED JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • Crystal Reports or Vivid Reporting
