Pay Range

$120,510- $147,564 Annually

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.


Job Description

We are looking for multiple Maintenance Work Planners to join our team. In this role, you will oversee and coordinate technical and administrative aspects of multi-disciplinary craft work, including mechanical, electrical, and/or civil tasks. Your primary focus will be planning facility and infrastructure-related activities such as maintenance, repairs, replacements, minor modifications, and tenant improvements. This position is in the Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) Directorate and will report to the Maintenance Work Planning and Control Manager.

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

You will:

  • Develop and document detailed work packages in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including craft-specific scope of work, task breakdowns, required materials, necessary equipment, and accurate resource and duration estimates.
  • Identify necessary permits for each task and work order, ensuring routing is consistent with established processes within the CMMS.
  • Prepare and document Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for each work order, ensure safety requirements including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) are embedded prior to release.
  • Facilitate collaboration with cross-functional teams, applying facility engineering principles to analyze work requests, identify potential issues, and develop solutions for maintenance and replacement challenges.
  • Lead job walks to assess planning needs, prioritize tasks, and determine next steps for effective execution, ensuring compliance with ES&H requirements.
  • Oversee and manage changes to work order packages, collaborating with the relevant stakeholders to ensure proper updates and modifications.
  • Review work requests for applicability under the Davis-Bacon Wage Determination Act and plan activities accordingly, ensuring documentation is provided for final review and approval.
  • Plan and facilitate meetings to translate maintenance work processes into clear actions,ensuring materials, specialty tools, and comprehensive work instructions are captured into the work order packages.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, ES&H, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with significant experience in construction, maintenance, and operations of facility systems.
  • Advanced technical writing skills with experience developing technical documents such as work procedures, work instructions, specifications, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and planning/estimating for multiple maintenance/construction projects, including coordination and inspection.
  • Proven facilitation and leadership skills to lead multidisciplinary technical discussions and planning meetings, set priorities and drive decisions, and resolve differing professional opinions through structured conflict resolution.
  • Experience as a project manager, work planner, or work activity coordinator, providing technical and/or planning support for moderate to complex maintenance activities, with knowledge of materials, equipment, and methods used for maintenance tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to collaborate with technical and administrative personnel and explain technical and operational information to customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate in team environments, present and translate technical information for diverse audiences, including management.
  • Advanced hazard identification and mitigation capabilities related to maintenance tasks and work areas to ensure safety compliance.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and common software (e.g., Microsoft Word, email, etc.) and CMMS work control software to manage and track work orders.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM).
  • Prior hands-on craft experience (mechanical, electrical, and/or HVAC), providing a solid foundation in technical processes and operational workflows.
  • Ability to work independently to manage multiple competing priorities, and to apply project management principles to organize, coordinate, sequence, and accomplish work.

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
