Summary: Perform duties and tasks as a Behavioral Health Instructor and Subject Matter Expert (SME) and support and training services for the Behavioral Health Specialist Program (BHTP). This position is designed to educate students with entry level knowledge, skills, and communication techniques required to assess/evaluate military personnel and their family members in need of behavioral health care; and provide communication techniques in the areas of human development, psychopathological disorders, psychological testing, consultation, interviewing, and counseling.

Job Description:




  • Assist in review and revision/update of instructional materials.



  • Conduct classroom and laboratory instruction (i.e., teach) of any/all lesson topics in the courses using the approved course materials.



  • Provide SME/scientific technical support that is technically accurate, insightful, and creative.



  • Perform course administrative functions including maintaining student and course administrative records, organizing training materials, and identifying supply needs.



  • Perform maintenance and organizational activities such as coordinating for and using supplies and equipment, maintaining classroom and other training facilities to enhance an optimum training environment.




Required Qualifications:




  • Education: Completion of at least a 2-year degree from an accredited institution or equivalent in a behavioral/mental health field



  • Certification:



  • Current PMDB-M level I through IV certification or obtain certification levels I through IV of the Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavioral-Military (PMDB-M) certification.



  • Current BLS Instructor certification or the ability to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) and BLS Instructor certification within 30 days of employment.



  • Complete the mandatory Government CFD-IC, CTC, and MIO training courses within 30 days or hire or as soon as training seats become available prior to teaching.



  • Complete the MIC process and become a fully qualified program instructor.



  • Clinical Experience: Minimum five (5) years' experience as a behavioral health specialist/technician working in either an outpatient clinic or inpatient facility, or both.



  • Teaching Experience: 5+ years Teaching, mentoring, or precepting experience minimum.



  • Military Experience: Prior military and deployment experience is preferred.



  • Physical Fitness: Must be able to stand and walk around the classroom/laboratory for 2 hours continuously as well as intermittently for 8 hours. Must have the ability to move classroom furniture and other teaching equipment to enhance the learning environment.
