Starting Salary Range: $150,000 - $171,000 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.

MISO's Solution Architect is responsible for collaborating with various stakeholders in designing, prototyping, and evaluating highly scalable solutions used to manage the power grid for 45 million people. We're looking for a collaborative problem-solver who values input from others and can communicate complex technical topics with clarity across diverse teams. The ideal candidate brings creativity, efficiency, and leadership to solution design, while also mentoring others and delivering measurable business value. The Solution Architect will:



  • Partner with engineers, business leaders, and operations teams to design solutions that keep the grid reliable and ready for the future.
  • Shape and guide the architecture vision, creating practical roadmaps that balance innovation with operational needs.
  • Build and share prototypes and proofs-of-concept that bring new ideas to life.
  • Coach teams on cloud-ready and data-driven practices, helping them adopt modern tools and approaches that align with technology standards.
  • Collaborate with peers and vendors to deliver secure, scalable solutions that support a sustainable the future of energy.


To be a successful Solution Architect, we are looking for:



  • Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in software engineering and solution/enterprise architecture, with a track record of shaping and delivering modern technology solutions.
  • Ability to communicate and simplify complex architectural designs for both technical and non-technical audiences, using visual models and clear storytelling.
  • Strong design and problem-solving skills, with hands-on experience connecting architecture to real-world delivery through modern tools (CI/CD, programming languages, and cloud services).
  • A talent for bridging vision with execution - guiding engineering teams so that architecture translates into working, scalable solutions.
  • Background in solving architecture challenges within complex, regulated, or mission-critical environments (energy, finance, healthcare, telecom, government, or similar).
  • Commitment to ongoing learning, with relevant certifications (e.g., cloud architecture, TOGAF, ArchiMate, Agile/Lean practices) seen as a plus, not a requirement.


Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience, knowledge, and skills.
