Starting Salary Range: $170,000 - $193,000 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.
Are you passionate about shaping the future of cloud adoption? As MISO's Principal Cloud Architect, you'll play a key role in shaping how we design and deliver secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions across the enterprise. Your expertise in Microsoft Azure and multi-cloud strategy will help us drive innovation, flexibility, and vendor diversity. You'll help guide our hybrid and cloud-native infrastructure journey, apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform, and set the standards that ensure security and compliance. Most importantly, you'll serve as a trusted advisor and technical leader, influencing the direction of our cloud strategy and empowering teams across the organization to adopt the cloud with confidence. What you'll do as our Principal Cloud Architect:
- Architect and lead the design of cloud solutions across Microsoft Azure and other public cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, Google Cloud) to support a hybrid and multi-cloud environment.
- Define and maintain cloud architecture standards and best practices for performance, scalability, resilience, and compliance.
- Build and scale Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions with Terraform, including reusable modules and automated deployment pipelines.
- Drive governance through Azure Policy and equivalent tools across multi-cloud environments.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers while evangelizing best practices and advancing a cloud-first, DevOps-driven culture.
Technical Skills needed for our Principal Cloud Architect:
- Cloud Platform Expertise: Deep knowledge of Microsoft Azure services (IaaS, PaaS, identity, governance) and a strong foundation in building enterprise-scale cloud solutions.
- Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience with Terraform to automate deployments, create reusable components, and streamline CI/CD pipelines.
- Secure by Design: Understanding of modern security frameworks (Zero Trust, SASE) and how to apply them to protect cloud and edge environments.
- Cloud-Native Architecture: Proven ability to design and implement modern application patterns such as microservices, serverless, Kubernetes, and event-driven systems.
- Multi-Cloud Strategy: Demonstrated success working across AWS, GCP, OCI, and Azure, with the ability to integrate and optimize diverse environments.
- Leadership & Influence: Strong mentoring and coaching skills-able to inspire teams, share best practices, and champion a cloud-first, DevOps-driven culture.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field or 4+ years of relevant work experience, required.
- 8+ years of Cloud platform design experience.
- 8+ years of Microsoft Azure platform support experience.
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
