LPN Dispensing Nurse PRN - Philadelphia, PA

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Must have graduated from an accredited practical/vocational nursing program.
• Current license as an LPN or RN in the Commonwealth of PA is required.
• 1 year of nursing experience is required.
• Experience with chemically dependent populations is required.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Experience with drawing labs, performing EKGs, wound care, and triage is strongly preferred.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience with dispensing narcotic medication, preferably in substance abuse treatment, including treatment of opioid dependence.

Position Details:

The LPN will administer medication and therapeutic treatments per the physician's orders. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

• Administer/dispense methadone per State and Federal Guidelines
• Ensure adequate recording of the administration/dispensing transaction
• Ensure that the treatment plan of the physician and/or medical director is being followed
• Assess client response to treatment and medication dosage/interactions
• Maintain all medical records, including but not limited to individual charts, daily medication charts, dosage records, progress notes, Doctor's orders, etc., as required
• Monitor tuberculosis, HIV, and Hep C testing for all patients and assigned units, including making outside referrals when necessary
• Provides emergency care as needed (CPR, PMAB, Emergency Medications)
