Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training.



Responsibilities

    Lead and conduct capability analysis planning, mission analysis, and identification of capability gaps and solution approaches in accordance with engineering lifecycle guidance.
  • Develop system context diagrams, concepts of operations, operational requirements, and conduct Analysis of Alternatives.
  • Develop and manage technical baselines (Operational, Functional, Allocated, Developmental, and Production) and ensure traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in and prepare for engineering lifecycle technical reviews (e.g., Initial Technical Review, Solution Analysis Review, Program Planning Review, System Definition Review, Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews) to assess program readiness and technical rigor.
  • Facilitate system functional and physical design efforts, including the decomposition of high-level operational requirements into functional and non-functional requirements, support detailed design and architectural documentation, and conduct physical/functional configuration audits.
  • Support system integration, verification, and validation by devising test strategies, preparing Test and Evaluation Master Plans, and ensuring system requirements are testable, complete, and validated.
  • Implement and monitor technical management processes, such as requirements engineering, technical risk management, configuration and change management, and interface management.
  • Assess technology and manufacturing readiness through Technology Readiness Assessments and Manufacturing Readiness Assessments, documenting technical risks, and supporting risk mitigation planning.
  • Develop or contribute to programmatic documentation including Systems Engineering Plans, Program Protection Plans, Data Management Plans, Configuration Management Plans, and other SELC artifacts.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise and statutory requirements such as cybersecurity, privacy, Section 508 accessibility, records management, and adherence to DHS enterprise architecture standards throughout all SELC activities.


Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • CBP BI or Top Secret Clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's in STEM with 11-12 years of experience, or HS diploma with 15+ years.
  • Excellent writing, briefing, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing large, complex programs for DHS and CBP.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Project and SharePoint.
  • Strong acquisition management background with knowledge of DHS/CBP's mission, vision, goals, and culture
  • Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and effective decision-making.
  • Skilled in planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.


Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $129,800.00/Yr. - USD $216,700.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
