Site Reliability Engineer Lead

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer Lead to enhance the reliability, performance, and monitoring of the VA's applications using enterprise monitoring tools and AWS- and Azure-native services. In this SRE Lead role, you will collaborate closely with product teams to optimize infrastructure for high-volume logging and auditing data, unify on-premises and cloud environments, and drive capacity and demand management across multiple products. You will also guide the team in developing advanced performance monitoring and alerting capabilities in preparation for future cloud transitions and product consolidation efforts.

You will provide system performance and reliability support, financial operations oversight, and hardware management. You will work cross-functionally with data engineering, observability, AIOps, DevSecOps, and product teams to proactively monitor platform health, trace issues, and improve user experience.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and mentor the SRE team to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability across VA applications.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design and optimize monitoring, alerting, and logging using AWS- and Azure-native and enterprise tools.
  • Manage capacity planning, infrastructure unification for on-premises and cloud, and cost-effective resource allocation.
  • Develop advanced performance monitoring and alerting capabilities to support cloud transitions and product consolidation efforts.
  • Proactively resolve system issues and partner with cross-functional teams to improve platform health and user experience.

You Have:

  • Experience leading SRE or DevOps teams in complex, multi-product environments
  • Experience deploying, maintaining, or troubleshooting complex applications at an enterprise scale
  • Experience working in Network, Windows, Unix/Linux, AWS or Azure Cloud, Java JS Development, Microsoft, or Oracle Database Technology areas
  • Experience with capacity planning, demand management, and performance optimization
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate skills to work effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with test-driven development, distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native application implementation
  • Experience working in an Agile framework, including KanBan and Scrum
  • Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possession of excellent critical thinking and error assessment skills
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or IT and 6+ years of experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or IT, or 10+ years of experience working in Computer Science, Engineering, or IT in lieu of a degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
