Managing Director, US Actuarial

Location: Chicago

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Analytics team within Reinsurance.

Your impact as a Managing Director:

The Managing Director will be a production and leadership-oriented executive with a track record of driving sustainable growth and developing talent. This is a heavy client-facing role in which the incumbent must be able to develop trust and credibility quickly. They will be expected to lead change within Aon and operationalize growth strategies, while supporting an Aon United approach of collaborating with business leaders across all solution lines to deliver distinctive client value to Aon's clients. The candidate must also be experienced in effectively leading and managing large teams and must exhibit engaging leader behaviors that create excitement for the future, provide clear direction for the firm, and help in creating a culture that attracts industry leading talent.

Job Responsibilities:

Financial

  • As a senior professional, makes a significant contribution to the success of the company through financial impact of revenue contribution, strategic growth of a product or enhancement of the company's professional image and expertise
  • Uses key business parameters to evaluate efficiencies
  • Looks beyond basic metrics to think strategically when making business decisions; evaluates the wider organizational impact of decisions beyond the short term.

External

  • Viewed as a key client analytics manager; receives high client satisfaction results by achieving clients' reinsurance placement goals
  • Ability to effectively and independently conduct relevant business discussions with c-suite executives
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with clients and reinsurers
  • Demonstrates problem solving techniques to best meet clients' needs; is recognized as a solution provider for complex client issues
  • Sets realistic expectations and timelines with clients; then, able to produce results;
  • Adheres to Aon processes and procedures and all quality service requirements to deliver exceptional client value

Internal

  • Responsible for the leadership within the Reinsurance Solutions Actuarial team
  • Recognized as a company leader; committed to continuous improvement and client relationship management
  • Drives revenue growth; communicates growth targets for the firm and collaborates with broking teams on execution, through a combination of organic and inorganic strategies.
  • Acts as a mentor to analytics professionals and develops people to maximum potential
  • Inspires a growth-oriented mindset
  • Fosters and promotes team approach to both internal and external business relationships
  • Contributes to the development of a strategic and thoughtful talent strategy to attract, retain, develop and reward top talent; ensures there is a robust pipeline of junior level talent; and actively supports and promotes D&I
  • Champions leaders to promote and deliver on positive colleague experience that will move engagement scores towards a best in class status
  • Creates a culture that embraces change and embraces new procedures, processes and directions
  • Generates stronger connections between other areas in Aon to leverage improved cross-sell and up-sell opportunities
  • Delegates clear and strategic objectives to the team; and holds people accountable for the outcome.

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise

  • Minimum 20 years related industry experience and recognized as a leader in the industry
  • Casualty actuarial professional designation and relevant experience related to proficiency in understanding enterprise risk, risk transfer products and analyses
  • Strategic thinking capability
  • Previous formal experience in managing large teams
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Proven leadership capability to lead and influence senior executives and hold them accountable to deliver on established long term strategic goals and short-term financial results
  • Experience building high performing teams; proven ability to work with a diverse and highly experienced group of leaders
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with capability to interact with major clients to cultivate and maintain strong relationships at a most senior level
  • Excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external clients
  • Entrepreneurial attitude with high level of accountability for profitability and client satisfaction
  • Excellent organization and time management skills; able to multi-task and manage complex projects and direct reports
  • Ability to drive teams to deliver the highest in client service, quality and results
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to make sound business decisions
  • Known problem-solver who anticipates issues and suggests creative solutions
  • Ability to embrace and drive change in support of the business growth and efficiency strategies
  • Professional demeanor with positive attitude, high EQ and great listening skills
  • Bachelors Degree in Actuarial Science, a related field or equivalent industry experience required.

The salary range for this position is $200,000 to $230,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
