Position Summary The Civil Engineer is responsible for planning, permitting, and designing land development, utility systems, roadways, and other infrastructure components for government, institutional, commercial, airports, and transportation-related projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Working with project teams on all aspects of projects; project set-up, drafting, design, quality review and quality assurance, project coordination/organization, etc. * Preparing and designing improvement plans for a wide range of projects. * Preparing and modifying construction documents, reports, specifications, and designs for the project * Analyzing maps, reports, drawings, as-builts, and test results for design projects * Assisting with post-design construction support services to respond to RFI's, submittal reviews, as-built preparation, and field observations. * Working alongside office staff and management to successfully complete projects within the established budgets and deadlines. Required Skills / Abilities * Understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic processes * Knowledge of Stormwater Management Design, Erosion, and Sediment Control Plan Design, and associated Environmental Permitting Services * Knowledge of Civil Engineering principles and techniques with reference to construction materials, methods, and procedures * Knowledge of and experience using CAD/Design software (MicroStation and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D) Education and/or Experience * Bachelor's degree in civil engineering * 3-8 years of full-time engineering experience. Certificates/Licenses * Eligibility for or in possession of EIT certification. Physical Demands The incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use his/her hands to handle and feel for more than 1/3 of the day. He/she can expect to stand or walk for more than 2/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2/3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 2/3 of the day. This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 70 pounds on an infrequent basis. The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. He/she should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors.
