HX5 is currently seeking a Desktop User Experience Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract in Colorado Springs, CO. The Desktop End User Experience Engineer role requires expertise, experience, and exposure to supporting desktop management and enablement technologies in an enterprise environment. The candidate for this role will have experience in Windows 11 operating systems deployment and support, desktop virtualization technologies, patching of desktop clients, and supporting the deployment and troubleshooting of client-side applications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support desktop environments (Windows), ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime
  • Deploy and maintain endpoint devices (laptops, desktops, peripherals)
  • Automate provisioning and configuration of user devices to streamline onboarding/offboarding
  • Troubleshoot complex end-user issues related to hardware, OS, software, and connectivity
  • Ensure application compatibility and performance across all supported endpoint
  • Collect feedback from users and translate it into actionable improvements
  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to ensure users have reliable, fast, and secure access to the tools they need
  • Design and implement self-service solutions and knowledge base articles to empower users
  • Enforce security policies for endpoint protection (patch management, encryption, antivirus, etc.)
  • Work with InfoSec teams to ensure compliance with policies and regulatory standards
  • Provide technical guidance and training to IT support staff
  • Participate in IT projects involving desktop infrastructure or user migration
  • Act as a bridge between users and backend IT teams, advocating for usability and performance
  • Implement software update strategies and patch compliance reporting

Salary Range: This position is expected to pay $110,000 - $140,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Education andExperience:
Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:

  • Must have 8, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
    • May be reduced with completion of advanced degree
  • Must have 3, or more, years of direct experience in a desktop support or IT engineering role
  • Must be proficient in Windows Operating Systems
  • Must have experience with VDI technologies
  • Must have experience with Device Management: Imaging, patching, endpoint security, driver updates
  • Must have knowledge of Networking Basics: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP troubleshooting
  • Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (ex: Security+)
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:

  • Have a Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
  • Have experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
  • Have experience with Tanium
  • Have experience with Satellite for Linux
  • Have experience with Dell Management Server
  • Have experience with Office 365
  • Have experience with VMWare

Other Position Requirements:

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain the required level clearance by date of hire.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.
