Responsibility

  1. Participation in the development of assays for the detection of genetic predisposition to disease, and molecular assays for personalized medicine.
  2. Development of sophisticated clinical molecular genetic tests and their implementation on highly automated processing platforms. These development activities require extensive documentation and the development of standard operating procedures for transitioning tests to a production environment.
  3. Conduct investigative work on unusual results observed in our clinical testing environment.
  4. Deepen and broaden skills by working closely with talented experimental scientists, software engineers, automation engineers, and data scientists. Applies professional concepts to complete assignments of moderate complexity.
  5. Communicate results within the assay-development group.
  6. Work on well-defined projects with clearly defined tasks, procedures and objectives.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor of Science or Masters of Science with relevant work experience.
  2. Minimum of one to two years of full-time experience working in a laboratory utilizing molecular biology techniques or equivalent experience or education.
  3. Experience in molecular biology techniques, computer skills and laboratory automation.
  4. Excellent technical and communication skills are required.
  5. Experience with nucleic acid isolation, PCR, DNA extraction, DNA sequencing, and RNA expression assays would be highly desirable.
  6. Previous experience working with laboratory automation preferred (Tecan, Bravo, Biomek, Hamilton, epMotion, etc.).
  7. Familiarity with Illumina NGS technology and the broad range of associated molecular protocols, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, and NGS library preparations.
