Job Description:

The Contractor's personnel may work in multiple areas of the lab as determined by the needs of the service at that time and shall be responsible for providing the following service:

  • The employee will perform patient phlebotomy to include inpatient ward rounds, inpatient and outpatient, Emergency
  • Department (ED), STAT, as soon as possible (ASAP), and timed draws.
  • The employee will perform sample processing and send out preparation.
  • As part of safety, positively identifies patients prior to sample collection and samples prior to testing or aliquoting.
  • As part of safety and safeguards electronic and paper patient information.
  • Identifies, documents, and resolves any collection, or processing issues.
  • Assures patient-centered care and provides service in a manner that is professional and will avoid complaints from all stakeholders and customers.


Staff/Facility:

  • The Phlebotomist assigned by the Contractor to perform the services covered by this contract must have three (3) years of recent Phlebotomy experience.
  • Technical Proficiency: Contractor's employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government's requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently. Contractor shall provide documents upon request of the CO/COR to verify current and ongoing competency, skills, certification and/or licensure related to the provision of care, treatment and/or services performed.


VA Hours Of Operation/Scheduling:

  • Shifts may vary to accommodate the dayshifts listed above based on the needs of the Laboratory.
  • The employee may also be required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime. However, on call or standby duties will NOT be required.
  • Contractor's personnel shall be available and present during specified tour of duty hours at their
  • Assigned VAMC which will be established, and may be revised, as deemed appropriate for patient care by the Chief of Staff. Currently, possible shifts are as defined above.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent Phlebotomy experience.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Candidate information must also disclose any potential conflicts within the period of performance, such as previously planned military leave, extended vacation, or anticipated sick leave.
