HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO OUR TEAM:

The primary function of this position will be to design, program, install, and maintain a wide variety of control systems. Primary duty will be the support of the Shreveport manufacturing plant with the potential to support electrical / control systems at of multiple facilities. Equipment automation, system upgrades and integration, programming, as well as capital projects, engineering scoping, design, and project management. The project(s) scope includes system design, control and machine specifications, troubleshooting of equipment, process engineering and continuous improvement initiatives. May at times mentor / lead junior automation technicians.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for developing and managing project scope, budget, and schedule for new projects
  • Works together with engineers and operations on major equipment and facility improvements and acquisitions
  • Travel up to 25% depending on projects / need.
  • Support of plant control systems to maintain daily operation
  • Work together with engineering / IT to maintain OT networks
  • Willing to be "hands on" and dig in as needed



Education:




  • Bachelor's degree Electrical, Controls, or Automation Engineering preferred but not required




Experience and/or Training:



  • Responsible for owning and implementing controls projects from concept to installation.
  • Electrical design and layout and schematic layout and updates
  • Minimum five years' experience with automation & controls in a manufacturing environment



        Experience and/or Training:



        • SolidWorks certification a plus
        • Direct experience developing digital twin programs for complex systems
        • Knowledge of battery safety standards (UL, IEC, UN 38.3)
        • Background in high-reliability industries such as automotive, aerospace, or grid storage


        Electrical/Hardware Design



        • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is preferred.
        • Knowledge working and designing AC/DC circuits with 120,208,220,480VAC, 24VDC
        • Ability to work with and design safety circuits for e-stops and guard door interlocks.
        • Knowledge of design standards and safe practices as it relates to the design of electrical control panels, including: NFPA 79, UL508A; Hazardous location: NFPA 497, NFPA 499, NEC Articles 500-516, UL 1203, UL 60079
        • Knowledge of sizing components to project requirements such as: VFD's, PLC's as well as using best practices for use of remote I/O platforms.
        • Ability to walk through project concepts and generate BOM based on rough project requirements.


        Software Programming





          • PLC's: Allen Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix.
          • Must have strong skills with the following software platforms:
          • Allen Bradley RSLogix 500, 5000, Studio 5000
          • Ability to write and read PLC code in Ladder Logic, Function Block, and Structured Text
          • Ability to demonstrate writing clear concise programs with defined architecture and good documentation


        • HMI

          • Knowledge of Maple Systems, Allen Bradley, and Ignition PC based HMI's.
          • Must have strong skills with the following software platforms:

            • Allen Bradley FactoryTalk View ME, SE, Optix; Maple Systems; Ignition


          • Ability to design screens that are efficient and intuitive for operator use..
          • Knowledge working with SCADA / tablet control systems is a plus.


        • VFD

          • Allen Bradley Powerflex, ABB
          • Knowledge of VFD setup, communications, and parameter setup.


        • Other desired qualifications, but not required

          • Fanuc robotic programming and integration
          • Vision system programming, Barcode reading and integration, RFID integration
          • The ability and willingness to learn just about anything new within the automation field




        Network Design



        • Must possess knowledge of network segmentation within automation.
        • General knowledge of OT network design and OT/IT convergence best practices (Purdue)
        • General knowledge of OT/IT convergence and best practices.
        • Wireless network design: AP's, Tablets, POE use is desirable.


        Commissioning



        • Able to demonstrate startup and commissioning of new equipment in a safe manner.
        • Knowledge of how to test all equipment as it is brought into the production state.


        Support



        • Good communication skills. Need to be able to communicate with managers and operators to identify downtime issues and best ways to resolve in a timely manner.
        • Able to troubleshoot all aspects of automation including but not limited to:

          • Electrical
          • Software
          • Network


        • Able to demonstrate the ability to use the proper tools needed to troubleshoot the above-mentioned issues.
        • Ability to support plant production operations and maintenance staff to ensure maximum up time.



        Physical, Mental, Environmental Demands:

        While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. Good vision is required for inspecting parts and equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The ability to focus while working near production equipment and other distractions.

        Office and warehouse environment. High temperatures, especially in the summer in both the warehouse and tank farm. Employees may need to work off elevated heights in a scissor lift on occasion.
