Accountant (Financial Planning & Analysis)

Whippany Actuation Systems, a fast-paced and innovative aerospace manufacturer specializing in electromechanical actuators for both commercial and military applications, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical professional to join our finance team as our newest Senior Accountant (FP&A). Their primary focus will be on managing core accounting processes, including payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. In this critical role, they will analyze accounting activities, provide recommendations to management for process improvements, and contribute to the development of more efficient financial operations that support the company's overall business objectives.

In this role, you would typically:

• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate, compliant month-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
• Oversee payroll processing (weekly and bi-weekly), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and proper account reconciliations.
• Analyze product costs, margins, and variances; partner with Operations and Sales to identify root causes, improve performance, and drive profitability.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis, providing clear insights and recommendations to management.
• Develop and enhance financial reports, dashboards, and models to communicate key performance drivers, risks, and opportunities.
• Ensure data integrity within the ERP system, strengthen internal controls, and support process improvements across accounting and finance functions.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

We require:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and applicable regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis tools).
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with minimal to no supervision.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Eligibility Requirements:

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.

We would really like to see:

• Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of standard and actual costing methods.
• Knowledge of payroll regulations, procedures, and experience processing payroll through ADP Workforce Now or Vantage.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment

Compensation and Benefits:
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $85,000 to $120,000 per year. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position."
