POSITION SCOPE

The Roller Operator must be able to safely operate heavy equipment in continuous overlapping passes of rolling subgrade to desired compaction and smoothness.

The job site is located in Jal, New Mexico

PRIMARY DUTIES



  • Operate heavy roller equipment efficiently to meet job specifications
  • Must be able to work outside for long periods of time in all weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
  • Promote, execute, and adhere to the company's safety program and encourage all employees, subcontractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others
  • Operate Pad Foot Roller, using vibrate, when necessary, until ground surface is hard
  • Operate Smooth Drum Roller, to seal subgrade and base surfaces
  • The use of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, etc. to move material will be necessary
  • Determine the speed and direction of the machine, based on knowledge of compressibility of material under changing temperatures, so that ridges do not form by excessive pressure
  • Operate the roller and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
  • Ensure the job site is clean and free of excess material
  • Perform all duties within safety guidelines set up by MSHA/OSHA and company policy
  • Perform other duties as assigned


REQUIREMENTS



  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Valid driver's license and have a clean motor-vehicle record to meet company insurance guidelines
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
  • Knowledge of construction materials, construction processes and industry requirements
  • Willing to work in a team environment
  • Mechanical knowledge of equipment and being able to perform routine maintenance
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis
