RECRUITMENT: The State Highway Administration (SHA) is recruiting for the Transportation Engineer I- Structures Track. This position is located in Baltimore City, Hanover, or SHA District Offices statewide and is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. This announcement may also be used for future vacancies throughout the state of Maryland for SHA. Nature of Work: Transportation Engineer 1's in this track will apply structural engineering theories, principles, and standards to a variety of transportation structures. New engineers will be involved with the design of new bridges, bridge deck replacements, bridge rehabilitation and repairs, culverts, retaining walls, and noise abatement walls. They will also be involved with performing hands-on forensic evaluations of structures, preparing inspection reports, and making repair recommendations. *This job requires course work in Structural Analysis, Steel Design, and Concrete Design. Qualifications

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university. Experience: None required. Note: Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements. Applicants within ten (10) months of meeting the minimum qualifications for the position may apply.
