Summary: In this role, you will design, implement, and support middleware solutions that power critical applications and services. You will bring strong experience managing and troubleshooting middleware platforms across both Windows and Linux environments. This role requires advanced problem-solving skills, cross-platform expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with application developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders. In addition, you will assist with automation initiatives and monitoring efforts to improve performance, scalability, and reliability. Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain middleware platforms including Java, IIS, Apache HTTP Server, Tomcat, and .NET application servers.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of middleware environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex middleware-related incidents across Windows and Linux platforms.
- Support integration of middleware solutions with databases, applications, and third-party services.
- Automate deployment, monitoring, and maintenance tasks to streamline operations.
- Apply patches, upgrades, and security hardening to middleware platforms.
- Partner with developers and system administrators to support application releases and migrations.
- Monitor middleware performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively resolve issues.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and best practices.
- Monitor web application performance and availability and perform root cause analysis for issues in hosted environments.
- Provide on-call and after-hours support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Relevant degree preferred.
- 5 or more years of relevant experience in Middleware Engineer, Systems Engineer, or in a similar role required.
- Proficiency in supporting application runtime environment Java JRE, Apache, Tomcat, MS BizTalk, Python required.
- Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux- Red Hat, Ubuntu, or similar administration highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, content delivery systems highly preferred.
- Experience building and maintaining Docker images and deployment manifests for applications running in Kubernetes or VMware Tanzu environments preferred.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms Azure, AWS, GCP preferred.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices preferred.
- Knowledge of containerization Docker, Podman, Kubernetes and microservices architecture preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot and analyze logs and system performance.
- Experience with automation and scripting PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools Splunk, Dynatrace, Solarwinds, ELK, AppDynamics, etc.
- Understanding of ITIL or similar process knowledge for incident, request, and change management.
- You must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Estimated Hiring Range: At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $102,400.00 to $179,000.00.
