General Information:

The Facilities Management Department at James Madison University is seeking a Power Plant Operator / Controls Technician for a Centralized Steam Generation/Chill Water Production Plant. The successful candidate must be available to work all shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*Providing skilled and effective operation, maintenance, repair, inspection, rebuilding of Power Plant steam generating, mechanical and related equipment
*Inspecting, repairing and maintenance of steam distribution systems.
*Providing technical support for all control devices within the plant.

Qualifications:

*Knowledge of all aspects of repair and maintenance procedures to power plant equipment such as boilers, chillers, pumps, VFD's, valves, controls, 3 phase electric motors and steam distribution systems
*Working knowledge of applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures
*Ability to perform simple record keeping
*Working skills to include the use of hand and power tools
*Ability to set-up, configure, tune and troubleshoot control devices
*Ability to maintain and repair power plant and related equipment
*Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose a variety of mechanical problems
*Ability to read and interpret gauges, recorders, and monitoring equipment
*Availability to work a variety of required shift schedules
