POSITION: P.O.W.E.R. Testing Assistant
STATUS:Part time / Seasonal / No SURS (5-15 hours per week)
DEPARTMENT: Fitness Center
DIVISION: Academic Affairs
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
UNION: Non-union
REPORTS TO: Fitness Center Specialist
PLACEMENT: Temporary/Seasonal
HIRING RANGE: $25.00 hourly

POSITION SUMMARY
Evaluates the fitness ability of those seeking the POWER testing. Assists Fitness Center Specialist with the scheduling, planning and running of POWER tests. Ensures the overall quality of the POWER program by ensuring participants adhere to and understand the established rules and assessment criteria of the POWER test. Ability to work a flexible schedule is expected.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Evaluate possible candidates for the police departments through the administration of the Police Officers Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) and provide the necessary documentation.
2. Evaluate candidates for the Correctional Agility Test (CAT) for correctional officers and provide necessary documentation.
3. Evaluate candidates for the Physical Abilities Test (PAT) for community members and provide necessary documentation.
4. Develop and maintain an understanding of physical abilities involved in testing (strength, flexibility, endurance, etc.).
5. Assess individual's physical limitations that may impact testing and consult with the candidate regarding potential restrictions or accommodations.
6. Perform daily testing setup and dismantle for scheduled tests.
7. Provide first aid when necessary.
8. Take pictures of candidates and process / print POWER cards.
9. Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must meet the requirements of one of the three following conditions.
- Six (6) months experience in a fitness center or a field directly related to POWER testing with a minimum of 60 hours of experience in assisting in POWER testing.
- Qualified personal trainer.
- Police officer with work experience in fitness assessment.
2. Must be AED/CPR certified (within 30 days of hire).
3. Ability to prioritize assignments and work in a very busy, loud, fun environment; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
4. Strong personal computer skills.
5. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
6. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
8. Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
2. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

WORK SCHEDULE
Variable, 7:00am- 7:00 pm (MTWRF); will include some weekends

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Must be able to physically perform necessary skills of applicable testing.
2. Fitness Center/Physical Education equipment.
3. Requires manual skill to appropriately control and manipulate objects, tools, materials, and equipment used on the job, including a telephone and a computer.
