About the Opportunity:

Work under the direction of a Senior Engineer to assist and perform basic manufacturing engineering duties including CAD, routings, manufacturing process sheets, drawing and specification revision changes, Met Lab support, excel spread sheets and special projects. As a Co-OP student engineer, you will learn the basic technical and interpersonal skills as a foundation for your engineering career.

Location: Whitesboro, NY

Responsibilities:

  • CAD software skills (Siemens NX preferred)
  • Meticulous and able to work in an environment requiring attention to detail and follow-up
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Solid PC skills including MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong math background including trigonometry and geometry
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well with others in a team-based environment.
  • Able to perform hands-on shop and design work.

Required Qualifications:

  • Full/Part time student pursuing a degree in engineering
  • Undergraduate or graduate student actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Masters degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Student is going into Junior or Senior year
  • Expected grade point average: 3.0 or above
  • Work schedule:
    • Full time during the summer break
    • Full time during the Winter and Spring breaks may be available
    • Part time during the semester may be available

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Should be able to understand and interpret basic blueprints, customer specifications, and engineering sketches.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to keep accurate records
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision

Physical Requirements:

The employee will be working in a shop environment with moderate noise levels. Safety glasses required at all times.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; use hands, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Additional Comments:

-Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing and SPC techniques knowledge preferred.

-Good communication skills required

-Must have demonstrated mechanical ability.

-Must be able to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

-Must be extremely detail oriented

-Ability to follow documented procedures, work instructions and customer required records

Compensation & Benefits:

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $18- $25. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, education, and geographic location.
