What you will do

Clearwater Paper's Sales Development Program is designed to equip early-career professionals with the skills, experience, and confidence to launch a successful career in sales. Over the course of the 12-month program, participants will receive structured training, hands-on experience, and mentorship from seasoned sales leaders to gain a deep understanding of our products, customers, and sales strategies. This is a great opportunity for motivated individuals eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a high-performing sales team. After successful completion of the program, participants typically transition into an Account Manager position.

In addition, you will:



  • Travel! Clearwater Paper is headquartered in Spokane, Washington and operates 3 paper mills in Idaho, Arkansas, and Georgia. Our Manchester organization boasts 5 locations including Michigan, Texas, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and South Carolina. You will have the opportunity to travel to some of these locations and gather firsthand knowledge on how our product is made.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the company's product offerings and their application.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the sales cycle, from lead generation to closing details.
  • Assist with customers in a way that supports their business plans and goals so that Clearwater Paper is viewed as their business partner and preferred paperboard supplier of choice.
  • Contribute to the team's overall sales targets and objectives.
  • Shadow experienced Sales Managers and join customer calls to gain first-hand experience in solution selling. Learn and practice various sales strategies and techniques.
  • Participate in product development or new product trials, and help coordinate among the customer, operations, and sales & marketing teams.
  • Assist with sales-related tasks like preparing quotes, processing orders, and maintaining customer records.
  • Learn to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customer interactions and track activity using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools (e.g., Salesforce)


What you will need



  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field (required).
  • Prior sales or paper industry internships and experience (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with customers and colleagues.
  • Customer Service Orientation. Provide excellent customer service and build strong relationships.
  • Sales Aptitude. Demonstrate a natural inclination towards sales and achieving targets.
  • Organizational skills. Manage tasks and time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Adjust to different situations and learn from feedback.
  • Motivated and driven. Self-motivated with a proactive approach and a strong desire to succeed in a sales environment.
  • Close proximity to an airport and the ability to travel as needed.
