About the Role The Trade Director - Transpacific Service will be responsible to support the commercial aspects of Matson's international service (excluding MSP and WB headhaul such as Okinawa). The core responsibility will be to support and develop Matson's US controlled Transpacific customers, and to secure and maintain cargo volumes and rates at levels necessary to achieve corporate growth and profitability objectives. A special emphasis will be placed on Asian suppliers and agents. Accountability will also include support of the Senior Vice President, Transpacific Service in managing commercial aspects of the daily management of Matson's Transpacific services, CLX and MAX. Total Active Accounts: 130-170 Total Revenue: $270-300M Nature and Scope: Matson's Trade Director, Transpacific Service is based in Walnut Creek, CA with responsibility and coverage for all US-controlled customers including engaging with their Asia-based locations. Travel throughout the US, China, Hong Kong, and Vietnam will be the primary customer sales coverage. The primary responsibility is to manage Matson's US-controlled Transpacific customers with a specific focus on their Asia-based offices, agents, and vendors and to support the Senior Vice President, Transpacific Services in managing commercial aspects of the daily management and activity for Matson's services; CLX and MAX. Securing and maintaining cargo volumes and rates at levels necessary to achieve Matson's Plan goals for profitability and key objectives for the Transpacific services; Eastbound and Westbound. A comprehensive understanding of the market is required. This includes in-depth knowledge of consignees, shippers, potential customers, and their varied distribution patterns and needs. Additionally, a complete understanding of Matson's total service is necessary to fully match customer needs with Matson's capabilities. The incumbent develops and implements programs and measures which stimulate a favorable business climate conducive to the continuation and improvement of profitable operations. To accomplish this, the incumbent must be familiar with all aspects of Matson's operations, company Plan, policies and procedures, market developments, competitive activities, labor agreements, regulatory requirements, and relevant legislative issues. This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Transpacific Service and works closely with the Senior Vice President, Asia. What you'll do:

The annual salary range is posted for this position in California is $145,400 - $210,920.The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
