Where we Work This is an in-office position, requiring three days a week in our San Francisco, CA office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays. About your skills Communication & Channel Design: You don't just write messages, you design the full experience. You think about timing, tone, format, and delivery so the right message appears in the right place and moment. You understand how channels work together (or against each other), and you build systems that make clarity the default. Writing with Voice & Global Relevance: You write like a real person, for real people; clear, conversational, and with a consistent voice. You can flex for different audiences, cultures, and time zones, ensuring messages land across a diverse, global team. Program & Project Management: You bring structure to complexity. You manage timelines, approvals, and moving parts to keep things on track without losing momentum or getting stuck in feedback loops. Cross-Functional Influence:You're a natural collaborator who knows how to build trust across functions. Whether partnering with Legal, HR, IT, or business leaders, you listen, problem-solve, and keep work moving with just the right mix of diplomacy and direction. About this role We're looking for a seasoned storyteller to sit alongside Udemates and co-create how internal communications show up: clear, timely, and grounded in what employees want to hear. As Manager of Internal Communications, you'll be the operational engine behind how we communicate across the company. You'll draft updates, prep speakers, manage timelines, and ensure every message reflects who we are and where we're headed. Working closely with the Director of Internal Comms, you'll help turn strategy into clarity and conversation into connection. What you'll be doing This is a rare chance to help shape the voice of a global company in transformation. You'll partner closely with the Director of Internal Comms to bring clarity, connection, and yes, a little fun to every corner of Udemy. Be the execution engine - drafting company-wide messages, prepping leaders, managing timelines, and ensuring every communication lands with impact. Bring our values to life by embedding our new principles and operating norms into everyday moments, turning behavior change into habit. Rethink how information flows, helping lead a phased revamp of our internal channels and systems so Udemates can easily access what they need, when they need it. Champion the voice of Udemates by crafting messages that are human, inclusive, and relevant across teams, time zones, and cultures. What you'll have 5-7 years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, or related roles in fast-paced, high-growth, or transformational environments is required. Demonstrated experience planning and executing people communications across the full employee journey, including benefits, performance, change enablement, onboarding, and listening/feedback loops Proven ability to represent the employee voice and create messaging that resonates globally, drives engagement, and builds trust. Experience reinforcing company values and behavior change through day-to-day messaging, especially during periods of transformation. AI fluency or curiosity: you're exploring or already using generative AI tools to accelerate workflows and content creation Experience in L&D, HR, or employee experience functions is a plus, primarily if you've supported the communication of learning, values, or behavioral initiatives.
