Senior Director, Spend Management

Summary:

In this role, you will lead and mentor a team of Spend Managers within the Northeast region, guiding their work to deliver measurable value. You will drive sourcing and spend optimization strategies that align with organizational goals, strengthen client partnerships, and maximize the effectiveness of Vizient's group purchasing organization. You will collaborate with stakeholders to implement category strategies and ensure alignment with the Spend Management Delivery team and client priorities.

Responsibilities:

• Build and lead a high-performing team of Spend Managers focused on solving client challenges.

• Partner with Spend Executives and senior leaders to align support with client workplans and drive client satisfaction.

• Ensure effective implementation of Vizient's strategic programs (e.g., Impact Standardization, Novaplus).

• Optimize use of Vizient tools, systems, and resources to maximize client value.

• Coach Spend Managers on Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to clearly articulate historical performance and future category strategies.

• Conduct skill-building sessions to strengthen Spend Managers' ability to lead client discussions.

• Drive performance improvement initiatives to eliminate waste and embed leading practices.

• Recommend enhancements to standard work and automation to Spend Management Delivery executives.

• Direct and oversee consistent adoption of standard work across the team.

• Contribute expertise to the development of Spend Manager training curriculum.

• Own accountability for team performance, budget management, and financial outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Relevant degree preferred.

• 10 or more years of relevant performance improvement, operations or healthcare related experience required.

• Proven leadership ability with experience building high-performing teams, coaching talent, and fostering growth through collaboration and partnership.

• Strong executive presence with demonstrated success presenting to and working with senior management.

• Excellent project management, facilitation, and interpersonal skills to lead complex initiatives and drive results.

• Strategic and independent thinker with the ability to align initiatives to client and organizational priorities.

• Skilled motivator and team builder who can inspire, lead, and support others to deliver high performance and continuous improvement.

• Hybrid role requiring three days per week in office, based in either Irving, TX or Chicago, IL.

• Willingness to travel.
