Facilities and Fleet (FAF) is seeking a strategic and experienced leader for the role of Deputy Director, Facilities Operations—a key executive position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair of all County-owned and leased facilities. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the County’s infrastructure remains safe, functional, and aligned with broader departmental and public service goals.
As Deputy Director, you’ll lead the Building Operations Division, overseeing multiple units including Building Trades, Building Engineering, Logistics, Support Services, and Division Administration. Your leadership will ensure County agencies have the facility support they need to operate efficiently and deliver essential services to the community.
In this pivotal role, you will manage internal staff and contractors, guide budget development and resource planning, ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards, and contribute to the long-term strategic vision for County facilities. You will be instrumental in addressing complex operational challenges while maintaining high standards of performance and service continuity.
Ideal Candidate: · A proven leader with at least five years of recent experience in facilities management, including direct supervision of maintenance and trades staff · Demonstrated success overseeing facility operations in a large public or private organization, with expertise in maintenance, construction, project management, and contract administration · Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead teams and prioritize effectively · Politically astute, adaptable, and collaborative, with a commitment to high-quality service delivery · Experience working in a unionized environment is highly desirable
