Position Summary:

The Assistant Program Director is a part-time position responsible for assisting with daily management and supervision of the After-School in Action - Extended Day Program and any other special programs involving students in the Community School.

Essential Duties:



  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Assist in daily administration of the day-to-day functioning of the Extended Day Program (EDP).
  • Support Group Leaders in implementing all elements of EDP and other programs: behavior management, activity schedule and special activities.
  • Data entry and analysis of all program operations; update Master Lists, etc.
  • Assist in creating program systems.
  • Appropriately refer staff needs and discipline to Program Director.
  • Must be knowledgeable on all curricula implemented in EDP.
  • Assist with on-going assessment of children and provide appropriate services.
  • Address and/or appropriately refer behavioral issues with children.
  • Serves as a role model for the After-School in Action - Extend Day Program staff.
  • Assist with maintaining and ensuring that all administrative details of the program are implemented: records maintenance, appropriate documentation, Group Leader attendance sheets, updating calendars and schedules, daily messages, note taking of staff meetings, permission slips, etc.
  • Assist in the recruiting and retention of students in the After-School in Action -Extended Day Program.
  • Assist with quality control observes and shares observations regarding program components on a regular basis.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of EDP, Holiday Program, and Summer Camp.
  • Develops reports as needed.
  • Help coordinate special events shows, dinners, exhibitions, etc.
  • Attend trainings as requested by the Program Director.
  • The Program Assistant reports directly to the Program Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree or Associates Degree.
  • At least 1 year of experience in administration.
  • Experience working with children and families.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
