In this role, you will independently manage a caseload of workers' compensation (WC) insurance claims. You'll communicate effectively with employers, injured workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders as you investigate and resolve claims in an efficient and accurate manner. You'll provide guidance and mentor less experienced claim representatives. Leveraging your strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, you'll determine compensability and ensure fair claim resolutions while proactively managing medical, return to work, and legal issues. Overall, the role of a WC claims representative requires a blend of investigative, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills to effectively manage claims and support injured employees throughout the recovery process.

What you'll Do:

  • Analyze high exposure claims, set reserves, determine compensability, pay benefits and settle claims with established dollar authority.

  • Develop and manage workers' compensation claims action plans to a resolution, coordinate return-to-work efforts, and approve claim payments.

  • Prepare claims for settlement and negotiate settlement with best outcome.

  • Manage and direct all cases to closure in the most efficient and effective way possible.

  • Communicate claim action/processing with claimant and client in a professional and timely manner.

  • Provide work direction and guidance to claim representatives and serve as a technical resource within your assigned unit.

What it Takes:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of related work experience

  • Ability to pass required coursework applicable to job duties

  • Thorough knowledge of state insurance policies, coverage, procedures, and regulations

  • Ability to make sound decisions while using good judgment in evaluating claims

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to maintain confidential information

  • Ability to review and interpret complex and detailed documents

  • Effective computer and math skills

  • Ability to meet travel requirements of the job
