The Associate Athletic Director, Development will provide leadership to the Athletic Development team in designing and implementing a full range of development programs that reflect the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the athletic department. This position will carry his/her own portfolio of Athletics donors with a focus on identifying prospects and soliciting major and principal gifts supporting Athletics, as well as manage the operations and fundraising team members of the Athletic Development staff. The Associate AD will work closely with the Athletic Director and his/her leadership team to increase opportunities for engagement and philanthropic support locally and nationally for Creighton Athletics.

The Associate Athletic Director, Development reports directly to the Vice President for University Relations with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Athletic Director and partners to set division-wide strategy, allocate resources and chart fundraising progress. This position may be elevated to Associate Athletic Director/Assistant Vice President for Athletic Development within 2 years if fundraising goals as well as managerial and leadership responsibilities are met. These metrics will be defined by the Vice President for University Relations and Athletic Director.



  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of prospects for major gifts in support of the Athletic department. Monitor and manage productivity through activity and performance metrics and reporting.
  • Lead Athletic Development team including program strategy creation and execution, in order to build robust prospect pipeline to secure resources in support of Creighton Athletics.
  • Serve as key, collaborative member of the Athletic Department's senior leadership team, in order to advance the overall strategic priorities of Creighton Athletics through increased opportunities for engagement and philanthropic support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Duties may include sport program(s) oversight.
  • Develop specific working knowledge of relevant Creighton University Office of Development and Creighton Athletics computer systems including Advance, Blackbaud, Advantage and Archtics platforms, in-order-to complete day-to-day business. As needed, create or assemble documents or reports for either internal or external uses in advancing or evaluating Athletic Development.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree is preferred
  • Minimum 5- 10 years' experience of demonstrated, successful fundraising preferred. Comparable experience will be considered.
  • Experience in higher education and a national campaign environment.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Demonstrated leadership, delegation, and organizational skills with proven results.
  • Proven track record of personal cultivation and solicitation activities.
  • Proven track record of managing fundraisers and staff towards aggressive fundraising goals.
  • Appreciation and understanding of Creighton University's mission and the ability to effectively communicate it.
  • Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising and an ability to participate in all aspects of the gift cycle and the ability to inspire and coach managers to lead their teams to aggressive fundraising goals.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills required.
  • Excellent administrative skills required.
  • Ability to think strategically and quickly summarize complex and detailed information.
  • Ability to travel nationally for events and prospect visits.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of University Athletics Departments including the motivation and development of productive relationships with student athletes, coaches and athletic department personnel preferred.
  • Familiarity with fundraising and athletic databases like Advance, Reeher, Advantage, Paciolan and Archtics preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA and BIG EAST Conference guidelines, policies, rules and regulations preferred.
