Job Description

Design and produce original 3D assets, including props, environmental elements, and modular architecture, optimized for integration into a futuristic sci-fi virtual reality game built in Unity.

  • Develop 2D visual assets such as dialog boxes, UI elements, wireframes, HUD overlays, and iconography, ensuring cohesive style and readability across VR and web-based components.
  • Create and maintain visual design systems and style guides that support consistent user experience across interactive modules and instructional materials.
  • Implement accessible design practices following WCAG and universal design standards to ensure assets are usable by neurodivergent and disabled audiences in immersive learning contexts.
  • Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team of instructional designers, computer scientists, game developers, and UX researchers to align media assets with learning goals, narrative structure, and system requirements.
  • Participate in rapid prototyping cycles, providing iterative visual assets and incorporating feedback from usability testing and formative evaluations.
  • Prepare and deliver production-ready files with appropriate formats, resolutions, and metadata, ensuring compatibility with VR deployment on Meta Quest and web-based experiences.
  • Contribute to documentation, asset libraries, and team communication platforms to support transparency, reproducibility, and collaboration in a distributed research setting.
Shift

M - F; 8am - 5pm

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience creating illustrations and interactive media assets for educational, research, or game-based environments.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing original illustrations, UI/UX assets, and interactive or animated media designed for a variety of user populations.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design principles, especially for neurodivergent audiences.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $17.05 - $22.00/hour

Grade: GGS-007
